곗돈

"곗돈" refers to money that several people regularly collect in a traditional Korean rotating credit association (계모임). This money forms a lump sum that is distributed in turn to one of the group members, serving as a type of mutual finance and communal savings. By each person contributing a fixed amount, a lump sum can be accumulated after a certain period. In this process, it is common for those who receive the lump sum earlier in the rotation to pay interest, and for those who receive it later to receive interest.
