격암유록
A book of prophecies authored by 격암 남사고 선생 (1509-1571), a scholar of divination during the reign of King Myeongjong of Joseon.
The core message, urging future generations to abandon evil and follow 정도령, the protagonist who will save humanity, upon his appearance in Joseon in the late 20th century, is described across a total of 60 chapters, like poetry and song lyrics.
What enhances the credibility of that core content are the peripheral details: the 왜란, 호란, and downfall that Joseon experienced, the Japanese colonial period, liberation, division, the fratricidal war, armistice, and future events such as 정도령 emerging from a poor nation to bring peace and prosperity, all of which are very accurately prophesied.
Called '천장지비' (the secret hidden by heaven and earth), its exact contents could not be understood by reading it; however, it was very importantly passed down as a manuscript for 500 years until it was registered as an ancient document at the National Library of Korea in 1977.
Since 정도령 himself is the key to deciphering the cryptic 격암유록, only after 정도령 was completed in 1980, in a secret chamber between 삼신산 and 노고산 in 부천시, 경기도, could its hidden and concealed contents be clearly revealed.

20세기 말에 조선에서 인류를 구원할 주인공 정도령이 출현하니 삿된 것을 버리고, 정도령을 따를 것을 후대에 당부하는 골자의 내용이 시와 노랫말 가사처럼 총 60장에 걸쳐 기술되어 있다.
그 골자 내용의 신뢰성을 높여 주는 것은 주변적 내용들로써, 조선이 겪었던 왜란, 호란, 멸망과 일제 강점, 해방, 분단, 동족상잔의 전쟁, 휴전, 가난한 나라에서 정도령이 나오면 평화와 번영을 가져온다는 미래의 내용들이 매우 정확하게 예언되어 있다는 것이다.
천장지비(하늘이 감추고 땅이 숨긴 비밀)라 하여, 읽어서는 정확한 내용을 알 수가 없었으나, 매우 중요하게 500년을 가로지르며 필사본으로 전해져오다가 1977년에 국립중앙도서관에 고문서로 등록되었다.
정도령 자체가 암호같은 격암유록을 해독하는 열쇄이기 때문에, 1980년 경기도 부천시 소재 삼신산과 노고산 사이 밀실에서 정도령이 완성된 이후 비로소 그 감추어지고 숨겨졌던 내용이 명확하게 드러날 수 있게 되었다.
