Life as an Evangelist at Onyang Altar

1Because this person was in the military, whenever he occasionally came to 신앙촌, he would call this person, take him to '맛나식당', and buy him lunch.이 사람이 군대 생활을 하는 고로 어쩌다가 한 번씩 신앙촌에 오기만 하면, 이 사람을 불러 가지고 '맛나식당'으로 데리고 가서 점심을 사 주곤 했던 거예요.

2But, 이제 그대로, when this person was serving as an evangelist at 온양 전도관, 영모님 told this person, "Now, stop standing on the altar."그런데, 이제 그대로, 이 사람이 온양 전도관 전도사로 시무할 때에 영모님이 이 사람에게 "이제는 단(壇)에 그만 서라."

3"Now, stop standing on the altar. If you stand on the altar, you cannot become an 이긴자.""이제는 단에 그만 서라. 단에 서면 이긴자가 될 수가 없다."

4"I will eventually make you stand on the biggest altar in the world.""내가 장차 세계에서 제일 큰 단(壇)에 서게 할 것이다."

5Is this the biggest altar in the world right now, or the smallest altar?지금 이것이 세계에서 제일 큰 단이야, 제일 작은 단이야?

6It's the biggest altar, isn't it? Right? Isn't that so?제일 큰 단(壇)이죠? 그래요, 안 그래요?

7So, he told him not to stand on the altar until he built the biggest altar for him.그래서 제일 큰 단을 세워 줄 때까지, 단에 서지 말아라 그랬던 거예요.

8So, 이제 그대로, when this person said he wouldn't stand on the altar, many elders, 권사, and believers from 온양 came up to 영모님 and said:그래서, 이제 그대로, 이 사람이 단에 안 선다고 하니까 온양에서 장로들과 권사들과 신도들이 그 많은 사람들이 영모님께 올라 와서 말하기를;

9"If you don't send our evangelist Cho back down, we will have to close our doors. Please send our evangelist Cho to 온양제단," and they pleaded with 영모님."우리 조 전도사님을 내려보내지 않으면 문을 닫게 됩니다. 제발 우리 조 전도사님을 온양제단으로 보내 주십시오." 하고 이 영모님한테 사정을 했던 겁니다.

10영모님, like this person, if the believers come and plead, does he grant their request, or not?영모님도 이 사람처럼 성도님들이 와서 애원을 하면 들어 줘요, 안 들어 줘요?

11He granted it, didn't he?들어 줬던 거죠?

12So he called this person and, blinking his eyes, said, "The 온양제단 members have come asking for you to be sent back, what should we do~ you have to go~"그러니까 이 사람을 불러서 "온양제단 식구들이 와서 너를 다시 보내 달라고 하는데, 그거 어떻게 하냐~ 가야지~" 하면서 눈을 껌벅껌벅해요.

13What that precisely meant was, it was a signal to go and then return.그게 바로 뭐냐 하면, 갔다가 다시 돌아오라는 신호였던 겁니다.

14It was a signal to go and return, but, 이제 그대로, after the 온양제단 members took this person, would they let him go, or not?갔다가 돌아와라 하는 신호인데, 이제 그대로, 온양제단 식구들이 이 사람을 데려가서는 놔줄까, 안 놔줄까?

15They wouldn't let him go, would they?안 놔주죠?

16If this person only stood on the altar, even though he hadn't become an '이긴자' at the time, if he only stood on the altar, would dew fall, or not?이 사람이 단에만 서면 당시에 '이긴자'가 안 됐는데도, 단에만 서면 이슬이 내려, 안 내려?

17There was no one among the 온양제단 members who hadn't seen it.온양제단 식구들이 안 본 사람이 없어.

18How much dew fell~이슬이 어떻게나 많이 내리는지~

19Even if this person led a district worship service, even if he held a new home worship service in a room, the traditional Korean paper windows would actually get thoroughly soaked.이 사람이 구역 예배 인도를 해도, 방 안에서 신방 예배를 봐도 그냥 창호지가 실제로 펑펑 젖어요.

20Such miracles occurred.그러한 기적이 일어났던 거예요.

21And then, if this person only held a worship service, would all fatal illnesses be cured, or not?그러면서 이 사람이 예배만 보면 죽을 병이 다 나아, 안 나아?

22All fatal illnesses were cured, weren't they?죽을 병이 다 나았죠?

23Everyone, from the village head to the 온양 station master, came out broken, and as those people came to the 제단 and were cured of their illnesses, was the entire 온양 area turned upside down, or not?면장, 온양역장 할 것 없이 다 깨져서 나오고 그 사람들이 제단에 나와서 병이 나아버리니까, 온양 일대가 뒤집혔어, 안 뒤집혔어?

24It was turned upside down, wasn't it?뒤집혔던 거죠?

25So, 이제 그대로, because such work (역사) was being done at the time, in the 신앙촌 newspaper, it was reported that a person named 조희성, an army first lieutenant, was at 온양 전도관, that dew was falling, all patients with fatal illnesses were cured, and patients with total paralysis were getting up – was it reported in the newspaper many times, or just once?그래서, 이제 그대로, 당시에 그와 같이 역사(役事)를 하는 고로, 신앙촌 신문에 육군 중위 조희성이라는 사람이 온양 전도관에 있는데, 이슬이 내리고 죽을 병 환자들이 다 나았고, 전신불수 환자가 일어 난다고 신문에 여러 번 났어요, 한 번 만 났어요?

26It was reported many times, wasn't it?여러 번 났던 거죠?

27It was reported in the newspaper many times.여러 번 신문에 났어요.

28So, in 전도관, Lieutenant Cho was so famous that there was no one who didn't know him.그래서 전도관에서는 조 중위하면 모르는 사람이 없을 정도로 소문이 났던 거예요.

29이제 그대로, one day, because there was such a command from 영모님 for this person to give up the 온양제단 altar and stop being an evangelist, and he sent him off blinking his eyes, this person, 이제 그대로, went and stayed for some time, tidying things up, and telling each and every church member that he had no choice but to leave 온양, and that was when he had to leave.이제 그대로, 하루는 이 사람더러 그 온양제단 단을 내 놓고 전도사를 그만 하라는 그러한 영모님의 명령이 있었던 고로, 눈을 껌벅껌벅하고 보냈으니까, 이 사람이, 이제 그대로, 얼마 동안 가서 있으면서 정리를 하면서 한 사람 한 사람 교인들한테 이 사람이 온양을 떠나지 않으면 안 된다는 것을 말을 하고 떠나게 됐을 때였던 겁니다.

30At that time, one of the new members was a woman, a virgin, and, 이제 그대로, as she came to the 제단 and received much grace, and was greatly blessed, did she fall completely for this person, or just ordinarily?그 당시에 새로 나오는 식구 가운데에 한 사람이 여잔데, 처년데, 이제 그대로, 제단에 나와서 은혜가 되고 굉장히 은혜가 되고 하니까, 이 사람한테 쏙 빠졌을까, 보통 빠졌을까?

31She fell completely, didn't she?쏙~ 빠졌겠죠?

32Ah! She fell completely, and while receiving grace was good, she just fell completely for him physically, and she would just come looking for him at 1 or 2 in the morning, at this person's lodging.아! 쏙~ 빠져 가지고, 이건 은혜 받는 건 좋은데, 그냥 육적으로 그냥 쏙~ 빠져 가지고, 이건 밤 1시고 2시고 그냥 막 찾아 와요. 이 사람의 숙소에.

33So, as this person locked the door from the inside and slept, that virgin came and put her nose to the gap in the room door.그래서 이 사람이 방문을 안으로 걸어 잠그고 자니까, 그 방 문틈으로 코를 대고 있는 겁니다. 그 처녀가 와서.

34The reason for that was, would the scent of incense come through the gap in the room door, or not?그게 왜 그러냐 하면, 방 문틈으로 향취 냄새가 날까, 안 날까?

35Because the scent of incense was coming out, she would press her nose to the gap in the door and just come at 1 or 2 in the morning, even in the cold winter, and stay like that.향취 냄새가 나니까 문틈으로다가 그 코를 박고 그냥 1시 2시에 와서 그 추운 겨울에도 와서 그러고 있는 거예요.

36So, 이제 그대로, when the 권사 who came early for dawn prayers saw this, would they look at it strangely, or not strangely?그러니까, 이제 그대로, 새벽 기도에 일찍 나오는 권사님들이 볼 때에 이상하게 볼까, 이상하게 안 볼까?

37They would look at it strangely, wouldn't they?이상하게 보겠죠?

38So those 권사 looked at it strangely and spread rumours, saying, "Our evangelist must have something fishy going on with that virgin~", so, would this person naturally leave 온양, or not?그러니까 그 권사들이 이상하게 보고 "우리 전도사님이 그 처녀하고 아리숭한 일이 있나 보다~" 하면서 소문을 내고 그러니까, 저절로 이 사람이 온양을 떠나게 될까, 안 떠나게 될까?

39When this person left 온양, not only the 전도관 members in the 온양 area, but also non-believers, since this person was leaving, did they all come out to see him off, or not?이 사람이 온양을 떠날 때에 그 온양 일대에 전도관 식구들뿐만 아니라 안 믿는 사람들도 이 사람이 떠난다니까 다 배웅을 나왔을까, 안 나왔을까?

40They came out to see him off.배웅을 나왔어요.

41And so, hundreds, over a thousand people, like a flock of white birds, came to 온양 station square to see him off, and when this person left, 이제 그대로, everyone shed tears, wiping their tears with their handkerchiefs, and waving the hands holding their handkerchiefs, they sent him off.그래가지고 백결치듯 사람이 수 백 명, 천 여명이 넘는 그런 사람들이 그 온양 역전에 와서 배웅을 하고 이 사람이 떠날 때에, 이제 그대로, 전부가 눈물을 흘리면서, 그 손수건으로 눈물을 닦으면서, 그 손수건을 든 손을 흔들면서 그 환송을 했던 것이올시다.

42And a few days later, a rumour spread that the virgin had been run over by a car and committed suicide.그리고 며칠 있으니까 그 처녀가 차에 갈려서 자살을 했다는 소문이 났어요.

43Because of himself, the evangelist was falsely accused, and, 이제 그대로, there was an incident where someone took their own life because he had left Onyang 전도관.자기 때문에 전도사님이 누명을 쓰고, 이제 그대로, 온양 전도관을 떠났다 해서 목숨을 끊은 일이 있었던 거예요.

44But if this person lives a trivial faith life, can he bestow that grace upon the saints?그런데 이 사람이 시시하게 신앙생활을 해가지고 그 은혜를 성도들에게 끼칠 수 있을까?

45He cannot, can he?끼칠 수가 없죠?

46At that time, Kwonja Kim Ok-ja, who is currently the women's association president, was a 권사 actively working as an executive of the women's association, diligently evangelising and working hard at Cheonan 전도관.당시에 현재 부인회장으로 있는 김옥자 권사가 당시에 천안 전도관에서 열심히 전도도 하고 열심히 일하는 부인회 간부로서 활동하던 권사였던 겁니다.

47이제 그대로, as all the members of Cheonan 전도관 came to Onyang 전도관 to worship, Evangelist Choi Seong-tak, who was the director of Cheonan 전도관, spoke to the general secretary of the 전도관 Association – who was the general secretary of the association at that time?이제 그대로, 천안 전도관 교인들 전부가 다 온양 전도관에 와서 예배를 보게 되니까, 천안 전도관 관장으로 있었던 최성탁 전도사가 그 전도관 협회 총무, 그 당시에 협회 총무가 누구였든가?

48Doesn't anyone know?아는 사람 없어요?

49Before Elder Seol O-san~설오산 장로 전에~

50General Secretary Kim Soo-hyun, right?김수현 총무지?

51General Secretary Kim Soo-hyun was a direct friend of Evangelist Choi Seong-tak.김수현 총무가 바로 최성탁 전도사와 친구 지간이에요.

52So, by speaking to General Secretary Kim Soo-hyun, Evangelist Jo, 이제 그대로, was slandered with accusations of having an improper relationship with a maiden, and there was a great deal of slander.그러니까 김수현 총무에게 말해가지고, 조 전도사가, 이제 그대로, 처녀와 나쁜 관계가 있다고 해가지고 모함을 하고 굉장히 모함이 있었어요.

53So, General Secretary Kim Soo-hyun reported it to 영모님, but would 영모님 listen to that, or not?그래서 김수현 총무가 영모님께 보고를 했지만, 영모님이 그 말을 들을까, 안 들을까?

54He didn't, did he?안 들었던 거죠?

55So, 이제 그대로, there's a saying, "When a crow flies, a pear falls," isn't there?그래서, 이제 그대로, "까마귀 날자 배 떨어진다." 그런 말 있죠?

56So, as soon as 영모님 said, "Now stop being an evangelist and come up," such slanderous rumours came in, and a call came from 영모님 to Onyang 전도관.그러니까 영모님이 "너는 이제 전도사를 그만하고 올라오라"고 그러자마자 그런 모함 소리가 들어오니까 영모님으로부터 전화가 왔어요. 온양 전도관으로.

57"Hey, because there's slander about you, stay for a few more months!""야, 너에 대해서 모함이 있으니까, 몇 달 동안만 더 있어!"

58So this person ended up staying longer at Onyang 전도관. Do you understand?그래서 이 사람이 온양 전도관에 더 있게 된 거예요. 아시겠어요?

59Then, 이제 그대로, when he was about to leave after staying for a few more months, at that time, that maiden would follow him every dawn, and, 이제 그대로, sit with her nose pressed against the door crack, so people suspected, "Is there some kind of relationship with the evangelist?"그러다가, 이제 그대로, 몇 달 동안 더 있다가 떠나게 될 때에, 그 당시에 그 처녀가 새벽이면 쫓아오고, 이제 그대로, 문틈으로 코를 박고 앉아 있으니까, "전도사하고 무슨 관계가 있나?" 의심을 했던 거죠.

60At that time, this person was young.그때  이 사람이 나이가 젊었을 때예요.

61When he was very, very young, at that time, when he was very young, either 28 or 29, so he was quite young, wasn't he?아주 새파랗게 젊었을 때에, 그때에 28세인가 29세인가 아주 젊었을 때, 그러니까 한참 젊었을 때죠?

62So, since a pretty maiden was pressing her nose against his door every dawn, would people suspect, or not?그러니까 예쁘장한 처녀가 매일 새벽같이 그 방문에다 코를 박고 있으니까 그 의심을 할까, 안 할까?

63They would, wouldn't they?의심을 하겠죠?

64So those 권사 went to 영모님's wife, saying, "Our evangelist is always playing with a maiden all night long, where is there such an evangelist..." So,그래서 그 권사들이 영모님의 사모님한테 가서 "우리 전도사가 처녀하고 만날 밤새도록 같이 놀고 그러니, 이런 전도사가 어디 있느냐..." 그래서

65if those 권사 spoke to 영모님's wife, would 영모님's wife speak to 영모님, or not?그 권사들이 영모님의 사모님한테 얘기를 하면, 영모님의 사모님이 영모님한테 얘기할까, 안 할까?

66She would, wouldn't she?얘기 하겠죠?

67So, would 영모님 know everything, or not?그러니까 영모님이 다 알까, 모를까?

68If 영모님 had acknowledged that, would he have called me immediately, or not?영모님이 그걸 인정했으면, 나를 즉시 불렀을까, 안 불렀을까?

69At that time, as soon as 영모님 heard those words, he told this person, "Stay for a few more months!"그 당시에 영모님이 그 말을 듣자마자 이 사람한테 "몇 달 동안만 더 있어!"

70So he stayed longer. Do you understand?그래서 더 있었던 거예요. 아시겠어요?

71Because 영모님 said, "Stay for a few more months," this person stayed longer at Onyang 전도관.영모님이 "몇 달 동안만 더 있어" 라고 했기 때문에 이 사람이 온양 전도관에 더 있었던 겁니다.

72But, 마귀, 이제 그대로, if this person does not stand on the platform, it will be quickly accomplished, and, 이제 그대로, if the 이긴자 quickly emerges, would the world of 마귀 collapse and 마귀 die, or not?그런데, 마귀가, 이제 그대로, 이 사람이 단에 서지 않으면 빨리 이루어지고, 이제 그대로, 이긴자가 빨리 되면 마귀 세상이 무너지면서 마귀가 죽을까, 안 죽을까?

73마귀 would die, wouldn't it?마귀가 죽죠?

74So, to prevent this person from acting as an evangelist and to make this person fall, there was the work of 마귀. Do you understand?그러니까 이 사람을 전도사 노릇 못하게 하고 이 사람을 넘어뜨리기 위해서 마귀의 역사(役事)가 있었던 거예요. 아시겠어요?

75And so, when he was about to leave after staying for a few more months, he ended up leaving under that false accusation.그래가지고 몇 달 동안 더 있다가 떠나게 될 때에 그 누명을 쓴 채 떠나게 되었던 겁니다.

76From then on, after such talk, would that maiden, 이제 그대로, come to this person's room every dawn in the middle of the night, or not? She wouldn't, would she?그런 말이 있은 다음부터 그 처녀가, 이제 그대로, 밤중에 새벽마다 이 사람의 방에 올까, 안 올까? 안 오겠죠?

77From then on, after such talk, 이제 그대로, that maiden who used to come every dawn in the middle of the night stopped coming.그런 말이 있은 다음부터는, 이제 그대로, 밤중에 새벽마다 오던 그 처녀가 오지 않게 되었던 것이올시다.

78However, would the hearts of those 권사 who suspected this person be erased, or not?그러나 이 사람을 의심하던 권사님들의 그 마음이 지워질까, 안 지워질까?

79They wouldn't, would they?안 지워지겠죠?

80So, 이제 그대로, this person ended up leaving Onyang after staying for about two more months.그래서, 이제 그대로, 이 사람이 두 달 동안인가 더 있다가 온양을 떠나게 되었던 겁니다.

81Like the proverb, "When a crow flies, a pear falls," as such rumours spread about this person, he ended up leaving."까마귀 날자 배 떨어진다"는 속담처럼, 이 사람에게 그런 소문이 돌자 떠나게 되었던 겁니다.

82At that time, there was a faction that wanted this person to just stay at Onyang 제단, and a faction that wanted him to leave, would that be the case, or not?그때에 이 사람을 온양 제단에 그냥 있게 하자는 파가 있고, 떠나게 하자는 파가 있고, 그럴까, 그러지 않을까?

83It would, wouldn't it?그렇겠죠?

84So this person was able to leave Onyang.그래서 이 사람이 온양을 떠날 수 있게끔 된 거예요.

85So, to make this person leave, there was also such work of 마귀, wasn't there?그러니까 이 사람을 떠나게 하기 위해서 그런 마귀의 역사(役事)도 있었던 거죠?
