Days Chapter 4

After Being Scammed Out of All My Severance Pay

So this person, 이제 그대로, stopped being an evangelist, came up to Sosa 신앙촌, and after staying for some time, 이제 그대로, he was discharged from the military, wasn't he?

As he was discharged from the military, 이제 그대로, this person was transferred to the reserves as of July 31, 1963.

And it wasn't just a simple transfer; because this person's classmate was in the Adjutant General's Office of the Adjutant Department at Army Headquarters, that person, until recently, was in the intelligence agency, the ANSP, right?

If we speak of now, it's the ANSP; in the past, it was the intelligence agency, wasn't it?

He was the personnel manager in that intelligence agency.

That person named Kim Hyeong-jin, who was the personnel manager, did not get discharged and continued to serve in the military, so at that time, when he was the personnel manager in the intelligence agency, he wore the rank insignia of a lieutenant colonel.

So, 이제 그대로, as this person pleaded to be discharged, that person discharged this person.

After pleading and applying for discharge, 이제 그대로, he was discharged from active service as of July 31, 1963.

Now that he was discharged and came out, was it a time when severance pay was given, or not?

You wouldn't know, would you?

Those who served in the military would know, but at that time, severance pay wasn't much, but it was given in small amounts.

He received that severance pay and came out, and was immediately defrauded.

After being defrauded, he had no money to live on.

이제 그대로, with 12 family members in the household, because this person was extremely zealous, would he have forcibly brought all his younger sisters and brothers who attended established churches, or not?

This person forcibly took all his younger siblings and made them move into 신앙촌, didn't he?

After forcibly taking them and making them move in, 이제 그대로, was the responsibility to feed and support those 12 family members on this person, or not?

It was on this person, wasn't it?

But the rice ran out.

이제 그대로, after having all his severance pay stolen by a swindler, 이제 그대로, the rice they needed to eat ran out, and did he have money to buy rice, or not? He didn't, did he?

So, was this a big problem, or not?

He had forcibly taken his younger siblings who attended established churches and brought them into 신앙촌, and now that they were starving, it was a big problem, wasn't it?

So this person immediately, stamping his feet in frustration, went to this house and that house, and he went to his paternal uncle's house and asked for rice, but did his paternal uncle say he gave rice, or not?

"Hey! You sold your house and went into 신앙촌, living so well~ why have you come for rice?" his paternal uncle sneered."

"Go back quickly, immediately!""

"You're a madman, so go and starve to death!" and sent him back."

But because his paternal uncle was gentle, he didn't hit him.

So this person again went with hope to his paternal uncle living in Yeongdeungpo.

When he went, his paternal uncle said, "Why have you come?"

"I've come to get a mal of rice," he said."

"You crazy bastard!" and he slapped his cheek with his fist, with his fist."

How strong was the fist; when he was slapped on the cheek, would his body turn backwards, or not?

As his body turned, he kicked his backside with his shoe.

So, when this person was hit on the backside, would it hurt, or not?

Was there time to think about the pain?

So he ran away from that spot.

So when he ran away and came, because he had no money at all, he walked all the way from Yeongdeungpo to 신앙촌.

As he walked, would tears come, or not?

They would, wouldn't they?

Shedding tears, to 하나님, "하나님, I don't mind if I starve to death, but since I brought my family members to this land of Canaan, a blessed land, please don't let my family starve~"눈물을 흘리면서 하나님에게, "하나님 나는 굶어서 죽어도 좋지만 내 가족 식구들을 이 가나안 복지 땅 까지 들어오게 했으니, 내 식구들을 굶지 않게끔 해 주십시오~"

Crying and weeping, praying, he walked and walked all the way to his home in 신앙촌.

After coming in, 이제 그대로, because this person's house was Room 4, C5 Building, 신앙촌, the house in Room 4, C5 Building had a second-floor room.

Going up to the second-floor room, if the family members saw me crying, would they be disheartened, or not?2층 방에 올라가서 식구들이 내가 우는 모습을 보면 낙심을 할까, 낙심을 안 할까?

They would, wouldn't they?

To avoid showing that crying face, he went into the second-floor room alone, locked the door so no one could come up, and went upstairs to cry by himself, sniffling.

I don't mind if I starve to death, but please save my family members," and he pleaded, crying and weeping.

While praying like this, 하나님 gave him a thought.

I must go to Seoul quickly~

He quickly put on his clothes and went out, and, 이제 그대로, if you were to come out of that 신앙촌, there were many peach orchards on both sides, weren't there?

Just before the road going over to Goean-dong, on that winding road there, he met a person named Deacon Yu, who used to attend Yeongdeungpo 제단 with him.

When they met, Deacon Yu was delighted, saying that 하나님 had made him meet Evangelist Jo like this~만났는데 그 유 집사가 반색을 하는 겁니다.

"I hurriedly came by car from Yeongdeungpo just now to meet Evangelist Jo, and how 하나님 made us meet here, I am truly grateful.""

At that time, if it was 30,000 won, was it a very large sum of money, or a small sum?

It was a very large sum of money.

At that time, he took out 30,000 won and gave it to this person, saying, "My son gave this, saying to give it to someone trustworthy, receive interest, and pay the 곗돈, so my son said, there must be someone trustworthy to entrust this money to~"그 당시에 3만 원을 꺼내서 이 사람한테 주면서, "이것을 우리 아들이 주면서, 누구한테 믿을만한 사람한테 줘가지고 이자를 받아 가지고 곗돈을 내라고 아들이 한고로, 누구 믿을 만한 사람이 있어야 이 돈을 맡길 수 있죠~"

"So, after thinking deeply, I realised there was no one trustworthy other than Evangelist Jo, so I came looking for you, and 하나님 made us meet here like this," he said, rejoicing."

So, was this sent by 하나님, or by a person?

It was sent by 하나님, wasn't it?

하나님 sent it, and, 이제 그대로, at that time, a sack of rice was 2,000 won, or 1,000 won, or 800 won, it was something like that.

Money had value at that time.

Because this person's monthly salary was about 450 won.

So at that time, 30,000 won was a very large sum of money, wasn't it?

So, taking that, he bought rice and brought it home, and then this person took that money, went out to Jongno, and started a business.

이제 그대로, when this person was at Onyang 전도관, there was a man named Elder Jeong Seong-hak, and that person was a supplier who delivered cola and cider bottles to Deokso 신앙촌.

But when he supplied cola bottles, instead of giving money, they told him to take cola and cider in kind, and since he himself had no talent for selling, he came to this person and asked him to sell the cola and cider.

So, this person went to that person and said, "I will sell that cola and cider for you, so bring it out." And when this person put out the money~그래서 이제 그 사람한테 찾아가서 그 콜라 사이다를 내가 팔아 줄 테니까, 내놓으시오.

"Oh~ How did the evangelist have so much money to bring such a large sum?" he said."

"You don't need to give all this money; I will only take ten thousand won. For now, take this cola and cider, set up an office in Jongno 5-ga, and try selling cola and cider.""

"An evangelist like you can do anything and can accomplish it.""

So, did Elder Jeong Seong-hak know this person's faith and character, or not?

That Elder Jeong Seong-hak was also a former officer and a graduate of Dankook University.

Therefore, that person not only knew how to discern people, but at that time, he was also the one who used to say, "The person with the best faith in this 전도관 is none other than our Onyang 전도관 evangelist."

So, that person came to this person's house many times and pestered him to sell the cola and cider.

So, when this person went to see that person, would he have disliked it?

He would have liked it, wouldn't he?

So this person started the cola and cider business.

When this person was doing the cola and cider business in Seoul, 이제 그대로, all the bakeries in Seoul were taken over.

Although not all teahouses were taken over, most teahouses were taken over.

This person went, and went again, and went, and went again. Didn't I say that once, when he went to a liquor wholesaler to sell cola and cider, he got beaten?

Loading cola and cider onto the bicycle of a young man I had with me, I took it to that person, the one who ran the liquor wholesale business, and holding a cola, I gave it to him, saying, "Sion Cola Cider tastes good, so please try selling it."

That person took the cola and looked at it like this.

Was something black floating in the 신앙촌 cola, or not?

Something black was floating, wasn't it?

"Are you giving this for people to drink? You bastard!" And saying that, he slapped this person across the face, and he also kicked this person with his shoe."

So, being slapped with a fist and kicked with a shoe, "It seems I am destined for such a fate," I said.

He hit me just like my uncle used to hit me. That person also.

Did he suffer, or not? He must have suffered, right?

He himself had suffered in his youth, and, 이제 그대로, looking at the young man's face, he wasn't a young man who did manual labour or was suited for business, but since he had slapped him with a fist and kicked him with a shoe, would that person be able to sleep, or not?

But there was no contact phone number for that young man, nor a place to contact him. And so, regretting it all night, that person, 이제 그대로, the uncle who did the liquor wholesale business, was waiting for this person.

But the next day, when this person went again, would he have been glad, or not glad?

He would have been glad, wouldn't he?

Since he seemed glad, this person cracked open the cola with a pop and said, "Here, have a taste," and then—반가워 하고 그러길래 이 사람이 그 콜라를 타악~ 따면서, 한 번 맛을 보시라고했더니,

He just gulped it down, just one bottle~ Is one bottle of cola a lot, or a little? It's a lot, isn't it?

It wasn't a small bottle; at that time, 신앙촌 cola came in a slightly larger bottle.

Drinking that large bottle of cola all at once,

"This tastes so good, I must have been crazy yesterday~""이렇게 맛이 좋은 걸 내가 어저께 미쳤지~"

"I hit and sent away someone who brought such delicious cola. I was truly wrong, I committed a 죽을 죄, will you forgive me?" he said."

"Not at all, forgiveness? Something was floating in the cola, so you couldn't help but react that way, uncle.""

"Ah~ Indeed, 신앙촌 people are different. I will buy one truckload today, so bring one truckload immediately.""

If he sold a truckload, would he earn a lot of money, or a little money?

He would earn a lot of money, wouldn't he?

So, 이제 그대로, he ended up selling a truckload.

When that wholesale store stocked 신앙촌 cola and cider, and sold 신앙촌 cola and cider instead of Chilsung cider and cola, would 신앙촌 cola and cider spread throughout that area, or not?

It would spread, wouldn't it?

So, would people who tasted it drink Chilsung cola and cider, or Sion Cola Cider?

They would drink Sion Cola Cider, wouldn't they?

And so, from that wholesale store, 이제 그대로, when they first delivered that cola and cider to the bakeries and teahouses they used to deal with, would it become more known, or not?

As it became known, this person in Seoul, 이제 그대로, put Sion Cola Cider into every single bakery in Seoul without exception.

So, 이제 그대로, didn't I say that this person collected money every evening? Did he, or didn't he?

So, 이제 그대로, didn't I say that this person earned a good amount of money from that cola and cider business?

He earned a good amount of money from the cola and cider business.

In this way, 이제 그대로, believing in 하나님 is like that, and, 이제 그대로, you doing worldly business is like that. Even if you do worldly business, if you put all your heart into it and are devoted, do you succeed, or not?

You succeed, don't you?

Therefore, even when believing in 하나님, this person did not believe half-heartedly.
