JoSeon: The Lamp of the East

1In the past, the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore went to Japan during the Japanese colonial period and said, "The land of Joseon will become the light of the East in the future," didn't he?옛날에 인도의 시성 타고르라고 하는 사람이 일정 시절에 일본에 가서 말하기를 "앞으로 조선 땅은 동방의 빛이 될 것이다"라는 말을 했던 거죠?

2The statement that it would become the light of the East precisely means that a 구세주 who emits light greater than sunlight will emerge from the land of Korea.동방의 빛이 된다는 말을 한 것은 바로 한국 땅에서 태양 빛 이상 가는 빛을 발하는 구세주가 나온다는 것을 말한 겁니다.

3Furthermore, the novelist Gheorghiu said the same thing, didn't he?또한 게오르규라고 하는 소설가가 똑같은 말을 했죠?

4He said, "The land of Joseon will become the light of the East," didn't he?"조선 땅에서 동방의 빛이 될 것이다"라고 그랬죠?

5So, are the words the same, or different? They're the same, aren't they?그러니까, 말이 똑같아, 달라? 똑같죠?

6So, from ancient times, our land of Joseon is the land of Korea, and we can know that many prophets said that a person who becomes the 구세주, emitting light from his face, will appear in the land of Korea, can't we?그래서 옛날부터 우리 조선 땅은 한국 땅이요, 한국 나라에서 구세주가 되는 얼굴에서 빛이 나가는 구세주가 되는 사람이 한국 땅에서 나타난다고, 여러 예언가들이 말했던 것을 알 수 있는 거죠?

7But among our Korean people, are there many who know this, or few?그런데 우리 한국 사람들이 이런 걸 아는 사람들이 많아, 없어.

8Some scholars would know.몇몇 학자들은 알겠죠.

9Those who have read many poems by the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore would know, and those who have read novels by the novelist Gheorghiu would know.인도의 시성 타고르의 시를 많이 읽은 사람들은 알 것이고 또 게오르규라고 하는 소설가의 소설을 읽어본 사람들은 알 것입니다.

10The statement that our ancient land of Joseon would become the light of the East, the light of the East means, 이제 그대로, that a righteous person will be raised up from an Eastern nation, as written in Isaiah 41:1-9, isn't it?우리 옛날의 조선 땅이 동방의 빛이 될 것이라고 얘기한 것은, 동방의 빛이라고 하는 것은, 이제 그대로, 동방 나라에서 의인 한 사람을 불러일으킨다고 이사야서 41장 1절로부터 9절에 쓰여 있죠?

11"All the kings of the nations will come and submit." It said that, didn't it?"열국왕들이 다 와서 굴복하리라." 그랬죠?

12"I will raise you up from the ends of the earth, from its remotest corners." It said that, didn't it?"땅끝 땅 모퉁이에서 너를 불러일으키리라" 그랬죠?

13So, if it's the ends of the earth, the remotest corners, our country Korea is a peninsula nation that extends out from the continent, isn't it?그러니까 땅끝 땅 모퉁이면 우리 한국 나라는 대륙으로부터 쭉 삐져나온 반도의 나라죠?

14It becomes the end of the earth, doesn't it?땅끝이 되는 거죠?

15It becomes the end of the earth and a corner nation, doesn't it?땅끝이 되고 모퉁이 나라가 되는 거죠?

16Since it said, "I will raise you up from the ends of the earth, from its remotest corners," the Bible is also saying that a righteous person from the East will appear in the land of Korea, isn't it?"땅끝 땅 모퉁이에서 너를 불러일으킨다"라고 했으니까, 한국 땅에서 동방의 의인이 나타난다는 것을 성경에도 말하고 있는 거죠?

17Therefore, can those who claim to have studied a bit today know this, or not know it?그런고로 오늘날 공부를 좀 했다고 하는 사람들은 알 수 있을까, 모를 수 있을까?

18They would know, wouldn't they?알 수 있겠죠?
