환단고기 is a historical record that deals with Korea's ancient history.

It states that before 단군 founded Gojoseon on the Korean Peninsula, there was a nation called 환국 that ruled a vast territory.

The so-called mainstream historians, who wrote and taught in textbooks the story that a bear lived in a cave for 21 days, eating mugwort and garlic, transformed into a woman, married a person from heaven, and gave birth to a son who was 단군, the founder of Gojoseon, sometimes disparage 환단고기 as a forgery.

While it cannot be said that there was absolutely no intention to foster national pride and self-esteem during the Japanese colonial rule, which pursued a policy of eradicating Korean culture, at least, 환단고기 is woven with the stories of people who received the will of 하나님.

In fact, Jacob's fifth son, Dan, although born of a surrogate mother, was accepted as the firstborn of the legitimate wife, and the fact that he inherited Jacob's 하나님 can be known from his name. The name Dan means 'judge' in Hebrew, and the right to judge is passed on to the firstborn, which was reconfirmed in Genesis 49, stating, "Dan shall judge his people."

Jacob's son Dan passed away at the age of 140, which was when the twelve tribes of Israel were living as slaves in Egypt. However, the name Dan has been passed down and used for generations. Not only people's names, but also the places where the tribe of Dan resided were named Dan, so the etymology of Dan is included like DNA in people's surnames and place names. This is because only the mainstream line inherited the name Dan through primogeniture, while other siblings used similar names.

The tribe of Dan, having lost General Samson, abandoned the war with the Philistine nation and migrated eastward from the Mediterranean coast, and there were Dans spanning many generations until they reached the Korean Peninsula.

환단고기 is a historical record written in the 20th century, which viewed the vast territory along the migration route of the tribe of Dan as a nation (empire) called 환국, and includes the somewhat exaggerated claim that 단군 managed it.

The authenticity of history is not determined by majority vote, nor is it decided by research institute fellows or government officials. Korean history, as Gojoseon was under Chinese rule for 400 years, was virtually eradicated and severely distorted from that time.

The fact that there were nameless historians who cherished that painful, unjust, and dangerous historical truth more than life itself until the 20th century should not be forgotten.

What they wanted to protect was not selfish gain, but our history, which was being distorted and forgotten. To quibble over every particle and every word, calling it a 'forgery', is the violence of vested interests and a truly regrettable matter.
